Organized

Everyone needs a little organization in their lives, right?!?! I took advantage of my New Years day to take down Christmas decorations and prepare for an easy set up next year. Thanks to Pinterest I found this great idea to use solo cups to protect and organize our Christmas ornaments. Each cup fit 2 medium, 1 large, or several mini ornaments. For delicate ornaments I stored 1 per cup. In order to fit all of our ornaments in one storage tub I used a piece of card board to create a second layer. You should definitely try this!

Cheers to 2012!

Happy New Year friends! Every year has its ups and downs but 2011 definitely brought many blessings to my life. I am lucky in love, living in my favorite city, and surrounded by the people who I care most about. To ring in 2012 we decided to host a little get together in Brooklyn. Being the crafty gal I am requires a little DIY decor, delicious food, music, family, and friends. There’s not much more you can ask for.

Thanks to one of my favorite Christmas gifts, Martha Stewart’s Handmade Holiday Crafts, I had a little inspiration to bring some sparkle to our New Year’s Eve festivities. Our bar included glitter pom stirrers, stripped straws and cheers tags, tissue poms, and of course champagne.

Check out one of my favorite Etsy shops, The Papered Nest, for the most adorable drink style kits that created a personalized touch to our NYE bar. I will also bring you a DIY tutorial for our tissue poms very soon.

We wish you all the best in the new year! Luck, love, happiness, health and success is all we need :)

A Little Luck

For Christmas I decided to add a little luck to our families homes. Who doesn’t need more luck in their lives, right?! With inspiration from the creative minds at Etsy I got an idea to dress up real horseshoes with a little bit of love. This is a great DIY gift you can have in your home all year round.

Here’s what you’ll need:

Horseshoes (I purchased mine on Ebay)

Ribbon (color choice is yours, I used green for the luck of the Irish)

Twine

Paint Pen

Prepare your tags with a little quote written with a paint pen. I decided to write “Bless This Home With Luck & Love”.

String your twine through your handwritten tag to be attached to your horseshoe later.

Cut your ribbon on an angle and feed it through one hole of your horseshoe and out another. Repeat for both sides of your horseshoe. (make sure to leave your ribbon loose on one side creating a small loop to tie your tag.)

Tie your twine and tag around the loop you created with the ribbon.

Finally tie a large bow with the ends of your ribbon creating a loop for hanging.

Note: I recommend finding horseshoes that have all of the nails removed. Unfortunately 3 of my horseshoes still contained nails in all of the holes therefore I couldn’t add my ribbon.

A festive gift bag always adds extra detail to your gifts. I also used white and red fabric ribbon to create an extra touch.
